Chapter Twelve - Addendum & Contributions from Others
_________________________________________________________
Addendum-1: Many of the newspaper articles and research material on Mathew O'Keane/Keane and George Keane's origins came from Nancy Bond's genealogy efforts. She is regarded as a major contributor to this "O'Keane - Prendergast Family History."
Addendum-2: In the section discussing "getting into the correct Prendergast family line" that is discussed on page 36, an additional proof of Catherine Prendergast's place in the Richard "Dick" Prendergast and Bridget Lyons Prendergast family recently showed up in July of 2019. An email notice for a DNA match on Ancestry.com showed a connection to Jon/John Gibbons as a 3rd cousin, 2x removed. Jon and my common ancestor was listed as Richard "Dick" Prendergast and Bridget Lyons, my great-great-grandparents.
Comment-1: The author Laurel Beadon-Maffei sums things up nicely when she says:
"It is said that every generation stands on the shoulders of those who have come before them. Take a moment today and connect with gratitude for your ancestors and the journey they went through so you could be here now. You are their living legacy. And remember, you are seeding the future for those who will follow.
Comment-2: A Welsh word also sums up much of this research:
Addendum-3: Three interesting books about the Connemara region of County Galway where our Keane-Kane-Cain ancestors "came from" have been written by Tim Robinson (R.I.P.) and published by Penguin Books:
Connemara - Listening to the Wind (c. 2006)
Connemara - The Last Pool of Darkness (c. 2008)
Connemara - Little Celtic Kingdom (c. 2011)
The books are non-fiction and look at the flora, fauna, people and history of the area. Our DNA cousin, Peter, while taking a course on the Gaelic/Irish language in Ireland, stopped in the town of Roundstone and visited with him.
